Sunday Family Dinners

Each Sunday afternoon, we like to have a big family dinner. I've been having my mom come every week. It's a pain for her to cook a good meal just for herself, so this way she gets a nice meal prepared by someone else. Plus, I get to do a little payback for all the years she cooked for me.

All our kids and their families are invited to come to Grandma and Papa's house for dinner, too. Sometimes it's just one or two of them, sometimes it's more. We love to have them come because everyone gets along so well together. Plus, we get to see the grandkids more often.

Yesterday, we had them ALL there. All our kids, except Steven, of course. It's a bit far for him to come from Korea. Besides, it's against mission rules. Anyway, we had all five of our other kids there, plus ALL SEVEN of our grandkids.

Suffice it to say that it was a grand time, punctuated by periods of utter chaos and crying babies, interspersed with brief moments of relative calm. All the little ones got passed around between feedings and diaper changes, so everyone got a chance to hold and cuddle them.

It's nice to see how much Devun enjoys all his younger cousins--and how much the other little boys, especially Tyson and Conner, like him. They just HAD to sit next to him at the dinner table and Devun was instrumental in getting them to actually eat their dinner.

Anyway, despite the noise and crowded conditions, we all seem to have a good time. I'm just wondering how much longer we can do it as the family sizes increase. There may come a time when it's just not feasible anymore. I dread that day.

I also really enjoy being together as family. It hard sometimes to tell how much fun everyone is ACTUALLY having because it gets really chaotic at times.

I also really dread the day when its not feasible anymore. I guess we will just have to switch whose house its at.

I don't think one high chair is going to be enough anymore. Three babies sat in it yesterday. And what will we do when they ALL learn to run?!
