"Biting the Bullet"

It's been a while since I've written a post of a personal nature. I can't say why. I just haven't. But now I have something that I'd like to share, if you're willing to listen.

I've finally decided it's time to "bite the bullet" (metaphorically speaking) and get my left knee replaced. "Ouch!" you say? Yeah, that's what I say, too. Quite often these days.

I injured it a few years ago climbing off a rock retaining wall at a local park. It was OK for awhile but now it's slowly been getting worse -- more so just recently. The pain and stiffness are just getting too much to bear.

I thought about having it done over the holidays so that I could use the two holidays as days-off that I wouldn't have to use sick or vacation days for. Unfortunately, I didn't think of soon enough. It seems a lot of other people had similar ideas and had them sooner. It took me two weeks just to get an appointment with the doctor, only to find out that he's backed up seven weeks for the surgery.

So, I'm now scheduled for knee replacement surgery on February 8, 2010. That's six weeks from today. It's going to be a long six weeks, too.
