A Vacation Away

This past week Grandma and I spent (almost) a week at a timeshare condo we have in Mesquite, Nevada. The weather was pretty hot, but we didn't want to do much outdoors anyway. We just wanted to relax and do practically NOTHING for a week, which is pretty much just what we did.

The weather was HOT, but nice. Blue skies pretty much the whole time. We slept in as long as we wanted, stayed up as late as we wanted, fixed our meals whenever we wanted, and just did whatever we felt like doing, whenever we felt like doing it.

(A picture of the condo we were in this time. We are right at the end of the road, hence the dirt.)

The only scheduled event we had was an evening at the Tuacahn outdoor theater, where we saw a delightful rendition of "The Sound of Music". By the time the show started the temperature had dropped enough to be comfortable. Not too hot, and not chilly, either.

The only time we went out to eat was Wednesday evening. We went to the restaurant in the Virgin River casino and had a couple of prime rib dinners. They were very good. Even with the added salad and the tip, the total bill came to $15.00. Can't beat that!

(Looking South, down the street we were on: Ironwood Drive.)

To while away the time, Grandma had some receiving blankets that she was embroidering(?) borders on. I'm not sure if they were for both upcoming granddaughters, or if this batch is only for Jocelyn, with Reece's to come later. I took some little projects and a couple of books. We also played a few games of Ticket To Ride and watched a few movies we took with us. Besides that there's always the Olympics coverage and the Food Channel to watch.

(The view to the North. The green area is a golf course.)

I said we spent "almost" a week there because we had to come back a day early when Grandma found out she needed to be to work on Thursday evening for a couple of hours. Then when we arrived home, she had a message saying that she didn't have to be to work on Thursday evening afterall. But she DID have to be to work early Friday morning anyway.

All in all, it was a great time away from daily chores and all that goes with a busy schedule. We relaxed and came back ready to go again.

I am SOOO jealous. . . the sleep . . . the quiet. . . .no phone . . . watching Olympics . . sounds like heaven to me.

Well, I take that back. If I took my boys there would be no sleep, no quiet, and Dan's phone would still be ringing. And if I left my boys home I would miss them too much to enjoy myself anyway.

I am glad you had fun doing nothing.

Hi,

I live in Mesquite and was just reading articles about our city - (doing some research for my blog)and I came across yours.
It is a good one - you write very well and your photos are great.
Glad you enjoyed our fair city!

I am glad you guys had fun. I love vacations where you have no plans and end up doing nothing, they are the best.

You sound like me Olympics and the Food Network. :)

I am very glad you had so much fun, someone needs to right? Hopefully we will be doing that at the end of the month!
