Friday was Halloween. You all know that. Grandma really doesn't care too much for the holiday as it has become. Oh, she loves the kids and the cute little costumes and giving them treats. It's just the whole other shady and dark side of the holiday that she/we dislike. Anyway, for that and a couple of other reasons we decided to get away for the weekend. Besides, we already saw most all of the grandkids and grand-neices/nephews at the family party on Thursday.
Anyway, we had a few about-to-expire credits for the timeshare we own so we redeemed them for a couple of nights at a resort in Midway. We hadn't been there before because it's new. It turns out it's pretty much right across the street from the Homestead.
We left right after I got home from work (a little early). We checked in, planned out food needs and stopped at the grocery store in Heber for a few things we needed. Then we spent the weekend doing pretty much nothing but relaxing in the beautiful scenery and the last day or two of warm weather.
Saturday was Grandma's birthday (one of the reasons we wanted to get away) and she got a couple of unexpected treats out the deal. She loves James Bond movies and there were three on TV that day. We attended a short timeshare "update" presentation and she got to pick out a nice gift--a SOFT and plush bathrobe.
Yesterday, Steven's email gave us the date his mission service ends. Now we can make more definitive plans to go pick him up and visit Korea.
Today is Election Day. The lines at the early polling location in American Fork were ALWAYS LONG for the two weeks it was available. So we decided not to wait in that long line, since the only reason I wanted to vote early was to avoid long lines. This morning I got to our polling location at a couple of minutes before 7:00am and there were maybe 10 people in front of me. I voted and was out the door by 7:15. Great!! Grandma will vote when she gets off work around 1:30pm. The lines shouldn't be too bad at that time of day, I would think.
Anyway, that's an update of the Life and Times of Grandma and Papa for today.
